In all nine applications were received for the award this year. The Director constituted the following jury committee for evaluating the received applications :

  1. Dr. A. V. Shukla, Chair, Fellow Programme in Management, BIMTECH – Chairman
  2. Dr. Amin Usta, Professor in Strategy Area, BIMTECH – Member and
  3. Dr. P. K. Chaubey, Director, IMS, Lucknow University, Former Professor IIPA, New Delhi – Member

The award this year has been won by:

Himanshu GuptaDr. Himanshu Gupta, The title of his thesis “Impact of Diversified Investment on Portfolio Performance: A Study on ‘Hedge Funds’ With Special Reference to Indian Capital Market”. He was the conferred Ph.D degree by the Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur in 2016.

As per the award scheme a second award was also declared this year since no award could be won in the last year.

The second award was won by:

Amrendra PandeyDr. Amrendra Pandey. The title of his thesis was “Working of Monetary Policy: A Case Study of RBI from 1991-2015”. He was conferred the title of Fellow of BIMTECH in 2016.


Winners of Jagdish N. Sheth Award for Best Thesis – 2017 worth Rs. 50,000 each

Sartaj ChaudharyMs. Sartaj Chaudhary, the title of her thesis was “Influence of Socialisation and Materialism on Consumer Decision Making Styles of Indian Teenagers in CBSE schools in NCR”. Dr. Sartaj carried out her research study at the Centre for Research Studies, Birla Institute of Management Technology, Greater Noida. She was conferred Ph.D degree by the Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur in 2016.

John KinguMr. John Kingu, the title of his thesis was “Determinants of Export Performance of Selected Cash Agri-Products – Pre and Post Trade Liberalization in Tanzania”. Dr. John carried out his research study at the Centre for Research Studies, Birla Institute of Management Technology, Greater Noida. He was conferred Ph.D degree by the Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur in 2016.


Winners of Jagdish N. Sheth Award for Best Thesis – 2016 worth Rs. 50,000 each

Anant Jyoti BadgaiyanDr. Anant Jyoti Badgaiyan, the title of his thesis was “Analysis of Consumers’ Impulsive Buying Behaviour in Electronic Consumer Durable Industry: A Study in National Capital Region”. Dr. Anant carried out his research study at the Centre for Research Studies, Birla Institute of Management Technology, Greater Noida. He was conferred Ph.D degree by the Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur in 2015.

Vijesh JainDr. Vijesh Jain, the title of his thesis was “An Empirical Analysis of Level of Comfort with Foreign Cultures in Multinational Firms”. Dr. Vijesh carried out his research study at the Centre for Research Studies, Birla Institute of Management Technology, Greater Noida. He was conferred Ph.D degree by the University of Mysore in 2015.
